Ferries from the UK to Le Havre
There is no longer a ferry from the UK to Le Havre: the last one, Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth, stopped on 16 September 2026. The good news is that two crossings land within an hour and a half of the city. Newhaven to Dieppe with DFDS is the closest, four hours at sea and about 70 miles along the coast. Portsmouth to Caen with Brittany Ferries is the overnight option, landing an hour and a quarter from Le Havre across the Pont de Normandie. From the south east, Dover to Calais is quickest across but leaves a three-hour drive.

Who sails the alternatives
Brittany Ferries withdrew Portsmouth to Le Havre in September 2026, citing rising costs and subsidised competition on the Newhaven to Dieppe route; a fault on the Commodore Clipper ended the service two weeks early. The company still sails from Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg and Saint-Malo. DFDS runs Newhaven to Dieppe year-round, and P&O Ferries, DFDS and Irish Ferries cover Dover to Calais and Dunkirk.

Which arrival port for Le Havre?
Dieppe is the nearest port to Le Havre, about an hour and a half along the D925 and A29. Ouistreham (Caen) is an hour and a quarter via the A13 and the Pont de Normandie, passing Honfleur. From Calais count on three hours down the A16 and A29. For Paris, Dieppe and Caen are both around two and a half hours, Calais three.
