Ferry from Plymouth to St Malo
There are no direct ferries from Plymouth to Saint-Malo. The closest alternative is the direct Brittany Ferries crossing to Roscoff, followed by a drive of around two hours to Saint-Malo through northern Brittany.

Our experience
We sailed from Saint-Malo to Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries as a family, and this day crossing felt much more like part of the holiday than just transport. Saint-Malo is a brilliant place to leave from, the views on departure are beautiful, and there was enough on board to keep the children busy during the crossing. It is not the fastest way to England, but if you are travelling from Brittany or western France, it is a relaxed and very logical route Between the UK and France.

Brittany Ferries operates the direct Plymouth–Roscoff route. Depending on the season, crossings are operated by Armorique and Pont-Aven, with both day and overnight sailings available.

Onboard experience
Although Plymouth–Roscoff is shorter than many Brittany Ferries crossings, the ships still offer restaurants, lounges, cabins and outdoor decks. Pont-Aven is the flagship of the fleet and provides one of the most extensive onboard experiences on routes to Brittany.
From Roscoff to Saint-Malo
After arriving in Roscoff, Saint-Malo is around 125 miles (200 km) away. The drive takes approximately 2 hours via the N12, making it an easy onward journey across northern Brittany.
By car
Travelling via Roscoff keeps the drive in England to a minimum while providing a straightforward onward journey through Brittany. The route is particularly attractive for drivers already travelling through Devon or Cornwall.
