Ferries from the UK to Le Havre

The UK to Le Havre crossing lands in eastern Normandy, the closest French ferry port to Paris by car. Sailing from Portsmouth, it takes around five and a half to six and a half hours, with daytime and overnight options. A strong choice for Paris, Rouen and eastern France.

Ferry services from the UK to Le Havre
Portsmouth to Le Havre is expected to be withdrawn from October 2026. Brittany Ferries has announced plans to end the route as part of a wider restructuring programme aimed at reducing costs and simplifying its network. The company says the decision was influenced by rising operating costs, including the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), outstanding Covid-era loans and what it describes as unfair competition from the subsidised Newhaven–Dieppe service. Travellers heading to Normandy will still be able to sail from Portsmouth to Cherbourg or Caen, both of which remain part of Brittany Ferries’ long-term network.
